Mr. Cooper was born and raised in Elyria, Ohio. (Go Buckeyes!) He enlisted into the US Army 10 days after graduating from high school and retired in 2002, as a Chemical Operations Specialist. Upon his retirement Wes moved to Eagle River, Alaska and accepted a position as an Environmental Specialist with Emerald Alaska. While there he continued his education in the environmental field receiving certificates for Hazardous Waste Handling and Emergency Response, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Agent Training, Advanced RCRA Topics I and II, Land Disposal Restrictions I and II. As part of the Elmendorf, Air Force Base emergency response team, Wes has participated of various cleanup and recovery incidents in remote locations within the state and along the coast. Mr. Cooper received his Associate’s Degree in Applied Science with emphasis on Environmental Health and Safety from Barton Community College, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration through Columbia Southern University. Wes has five children: Westley III who returned from Iraq and is stationed at Fort Lewis, WA where he is scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan this spring; Alecia graduates this fall from Cochise College and plans on attending the University of Arizona; John who resides in Tucson; Christian and Crystal both attend school on Fort Huachuca. Wes lives in Sierra Vista and is an active member of Sierra Vista Christian First Baptist Church. Wes is currently employed with the Military Personnel Division on Fort Huachuca. His hobbies include mountain hiking, weight training, and spending quality time with his family.
